Premier Night ‘Jack Pumpkin’s

St. Patrick’s Salesian School presented a short Stop Motion movie, ‘Jack’s Pumpkin’ at the School’s Hall on Wednesday 29th March 2023.

A group of 4 boys created several illustrations depicting their expressions during a therapeutical process that led to their decision to develop further these illustrations into a short stop motion project. Together with 2 adult supervisors, they developed the story, wrote the script, built, and dressed the sets and props and finally filmed the stop motion short movie, in the summers of 2021 and 2022.

The collaborative creative process was a beautiful journey experienced and enjoyed by the boys and their adult supervisors. Once the editing process started, the boys were again fully involved by giving the characters their voices and expressions.

The creators, guests and special guests were present on the Premier Night, under the auspices of Ms Josanne Ghirxi, Director NSSS. An introduction was given by Ms. Annemarie Spiteri and Mr. Bryan Muscat, followed by the screening of the 10-minute short movie. After the screening, a panel from the creators shared their experience with those present.

Fr. Cachia sdb and Ms Ghirxi both showered praises for the initiative and dedication shown towards this project, highlighting the fact that the boys were ready to share parts of their stories with the world. A certificate token was then presented by Fr. Eric Cachia sdb, Head of School and Ms Josanne Ghirxi. In return, the Director of NSSS, Ms. Ghirxi, was presented with a book, as a token of appreciation for her work and presence.
