Erasmus Exchange Czechia: Environmental Awareness – Act for Change!
This EU Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Czechia brought together young people from different countries to explore environmental awareness, education and action for change. After travelling to Czechia, the group from St Patrick’s Salesian School had the opportunity to discover the beautiful city of Brno before settling in Moravec, where the main programme took place.
Through icebreakers, energisers and team-building activities, participants quickly became acquainted and began forming new international friendships. They reflected on their expectations, contributions and concerns regarding the project, while also learning about the Youthpass and its eight key competences through interactive games and group work.
The programme encouraged participants to distinguish between formal, non-formal and informal education before focusing more deeply on environmental issues. During a forest walk, they discussed their interests and exchanged views on environmental responsibility. Theatre Forum activities allowed them to explore challenges such as climate change, fast fashion and construction by creating short sketches and proposing possible solutions. Creative storytelling sessions also helped them communicate environmental messages in engaging and imaginative ways.
Other sessions focused on perspectives, communication and self-awareness, encouraging participants to understand different points of view and reflect on how they relate to others. A Maltese Cultural Night provided an opportunity to share Malta’s traditions and identity, while a visit to a community centre in Brno included art and LEGO workshops that promoted creativity and teamwork.
The exchange was a valuable experience of learning, cultural discovery and personal growth. Most importantly, it encouraged the participants to recognise their responsibility towards the environment and to become active contributors to positive change within their communities.
