Don Bosco grew up in a family which like any other family had its happy and sad moments.
While he was fortunate enough to have a loving and caring mother, yet
he had to survive the loss of his father and live with the conflicts of
his step brother. It was the strong faith in a loving Father and
protective Mother, which mamma Margherita passed on to him that made
him the positive person he was. He felt the presence of God as he journeyed through life's struggles.
Right
from the word go, he wanted his priestly ministry to be a presence that
shares love, care and understanding both to the young and all those who
care for them. It is for this reason that he called so many persons to
join him in his service for the young. Everyone was welcomed to join
in, there was a place for everyone. This is why we refer to the
Salesian Congregation as a Family. We are all members of the Salesian
Family. Therefore once a member of this family, you will always remain
a member. The Past Pupils Association is a practical way that helps us
to keep in touch. Being a Past Pupil is not about the past but about
the present. It is another way of showing that what happened in the
past was so wonderful that we want to perpetuate it.
I
am very happy that the Past Pupils of St Patrick's have always kept
their contact with their members. Keep up all this good work because
it is a way of saying that Don Bosco is still alive for you.
