Catch the Drop Campaign

Our school is participating in the Catch the Drop Campaign, a campaign which has been launched last year and is being continued throughout this scholastic year.  This is an educational water conservation campaign with the aim to increase awareness of the value and importance of water.

A Moving Drop Container is being passed on from one school to another along the Reverse Osmosis Route.  Students are encouraged to put messages concerning water conservation inside the drop. It started off in St. Clare College Pembroke Primary and arrived at our school on January 9th 2012.  The Ekoskola group took upon themselves the organization of activities related with water conservation.  The programme was compered by Form 5 student Clive Gauci.  A short documentary highlighting the importance of water conservation on the Maltese Islands was shown.  Various projects were exhibited but the highlight of the programme was a short film produced entirely by the students.

Under the direction of Jean Claude Muscat (Form 3) “Kull qatra tghodd” (Every drop counts)  was produced.  The film depicted Melchior Degiorgio (Form 1) as Acqua Man in full superhero regalia drawing the attention in no mild way of those who carelessly wasted such a precious resource as water.  It was filmed by Daniel Borg (Form 4) and edited by Jean Claude Muscat with the help of Daniel.

Every class left messages in the moving drop on how to save water.  After 2 days the drop resumed its course and was then relayed on to the next school – St. Joseph Primary.
